just in case anyone is interested, the brushes will be available at brushes.500ml.org but eh..not yet.
ps. I really like this a lot, the texture looks great and I love how the 2 images flow easily into one. In fact, when you sent me this for the first time it took me some time to actually figure it out
Yeah, drugs=bad.
I have one I've been working on for ages that would juxtapose two forms like this, and so I know how hard it is to pull off well. As someone who spends hours deliberately working the conjunction of luminosity and color, I am just melting over your execution here (esp. her midriff.) The radiance above segues to golden molten gorgeous below - it's "melt in our mouth" luxuriant.
Your composition is awesome. I find myself drawn to the left side, where her hair in the air creates a very interesting negative space below, almost as if a third form is "stepping into place" of the primary figures. As for the figures themselves, I'm struck by their correspondence, expressing the related dynamics of loftiness and solemnity. And just the whole " bright-edged vs. dark-edged" approach is both brilliant in theory and delivers resoundingly in the execution. (Interestingly, the bright-edged is more solemn, the dark-edged more lofty - it's a nice counter-intuition of the associations.)
It's worth noting too that your subject is so gorgeous and shapely that I immediately went scurrying into your gallery to see if there was more to find. And yet, much of the secret of your image is how you've melt down your subject to iconicism, presenting only the minimally necessary contours and details. And then, on top of that, you've "stamped" the image so truly with exactly the connotation that suits it, of lovely Venus.
Finally, your application of texture and design built of sunrays is just top-notch - the varying opacities you've used so that the rays shine out universally above but obscured over one form below is a classy elegant addition to this incredible whole. This is just altogether SUPERB work, equally strong in craft and concept, and sent straight to my own page on sight. This is work I wish I could have done myself.
